On October 2, the freshmen class officers for the 2024-2025 school year were chosen. Genevieve McCallum and Eleana Oviedo-Meyers are the Co-Presidents, Maora Djibom is the Vice-President, Sadie Clark is the Secretary, Mackenzie Bliffin is the Treasurer, and Jenna Sherman is the Public Relations Officer. Many ninth-grade students are eager to know how this new leadership team intends to support them during the 2024-2025 school year.
McCallum has been a part of the SGA since sixth grade when she ran for vice president. She mentioned, “Ever since then, I’ve been involved in the SGA.” What motivates someone to run for president? McCallum stated, “I chose to run for class president because I have the experience and will to make our class the best it can be this year” She continued saying, “I want to make our freshmen year a great and successful experience for every student.”
What are her goals for the freshman year? When questioned, McCallum states that her goals for the year are to “make sure every student feels like they belong in our school and to represent new ideas to our class.”
As the new freshman class officers step into their roles, it’s clear that the Student Government Association (SGA) is filled with motivated and determined leaders. Co-Presidents Genevieve McCallum and Eleana Oviedo-Meyers, along with Vice-President Maora Djibom, Secretary Sadie Clark, Treasurer Mackenzie Bliffin, and Public Relations Officer Jenna Sherman have already begun planning ways to make this school year successful for their peers.
Many students are eager to see how this leadership team will ensure every freshman feels welcomed and represented. As the school year continues, seeing the positive changes they bring and the sense of community they create will be exciting. This year, the freshman SGA officers are ready to make a difference, and we can’t wait to see how they make the most of this opportunity.
