If you’re not familiar with Venom, Venom is one of many different symbiotes that invaded the Earth in the Marvel Comics, connecting with his host Eddie Brock, played by Tom Hardy in the Sony Pictures adaptation. The two are seen as having a humorous “bromance relationship” as they undergo many fights and arguments throughout the comics and movie adaptations.
“Venom: The Last Dance,” was released Oct. 24 with the previous films in the trilogy being “Venom” (2018) and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021). Overall the first two films have done fairly well in the Box Office with “Venom” (2018) making $856 million worldwide and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” grossing over $500 million worldwide. However, the most recent Venom film has yet to make an impression with poor release sales domestically reaching only $51 million in sales. The film has received mixed reviews though it’s only been just a few days since its release. Katie Walsh, a top critic from Tribune News Service, stated, “Though the concept itself is running out of gas, and it would be nice to free up Hardy to do other things, it’s a fitting sendoff for the cheeky alien with a thousand-watt grin.”
For more reference, “Venom: The Last Dance,” received a production budget of $120 million which is exempt from global promotion costs. In comparison to other Venom films, this budget is about the same as the others. The movie has significant competitors as of Oct. 28 including Parker Finn’s Smile 2, Universal/Dreamworks’ The Wild Robot, and Warner Brother’s BeetleJuice BeetleJuice. Despite the competition, comparing the fan bases among the films is challenging as they all appeal to different audiences. Many movie-enthusiasts may just seek the movies for a fun time without considering themselves part of any direct fan base. Since Venom is based on the Marvel Comics, passionate Marvel fans may be more inclined to watch Venom rather than the other films. Neil Minow, a top Critic approved by Rotten Tomatoes, gave the film a B- on a A+ scaling saying, “It’s foundation is still comic-book, but it’s heart is a goofy buddy movie, with Eddie (Hardy) happy to call on his wisecracking “friend” Venom to kick bad-guy butt and just to keep him company.” Minrow’s review acknowledges the Marvel comic-originality, which may inspire Marvel fans to watch it.
After watching the movie myself I’d say it was definitely enjoyable. Without giving spoilers, the movie creates a lot of suspense and generates the true bromance relationship between Eddie Brock (Hardy) and Venom. There’s plenty of wholesome scenes with amazing song choices that really add to the movie. What’s unique about this film was the amount of detail that was put into developing the story. The pacing is great with tons of action scenes that contribute to the relationship between Eddie and Venom. I never felt as if I was confused on where the scenes were going. I’d rate the film a B+ on the same A+ scaling Minow used.

For those of you out there who may not be the biggest Marvel fans, the movie will definitely make you entertained in some way.
