The second semester of your senior year of high school is a bittersweet experience. While you prepare to leave your hometown and friends, you also are given opportunities to celebrate before you take your next steps in life.
To start, one of the largest upcoming events一prom一is very important to most high school students. This dance allows students to dress up, and get together one final time with their friends and peers. Since the senior school year ends shortly after prom, this event can be a very exciting way to wrap up both the school year and our high school careers. Although this event can be exciting, it’s often stressful for a lot of students. There’s a lot of planning involved regarding photos before prom, getting ready, etc. In my own personal experience, it always works itself out in the end, and it ends up being a very fun event!
Following prom, graduation is yet another bittersweet goodbye to high school. This is a big moment for high school students, as it allows us to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished over the past four years with our friends and family. While it does mark an exciting new beginning, the event is nostalgic as this will be the last moment as a grade all together. Graduation is scheduled for Friday, May 30 at 9 a.m. right here on our football field.
Throughout the last quarter of the school year, seniors have many smaller activities such as senior sunset, senior assassin, senior skip day, and the infamous senior prank. These activities allow students to form final memories together before the next steps in our lives. Similarly, senior week, more commonly known as beach week, is a week-long celebration held by students in Ocean City, MD. This week will be the last week that you and your classmates will be together before college, and for most this is an exciting time. Seniors, enjoy your final few weeks as a Damascus Hornet!
