The month of October has been successful for the Damascus High School Hornets. Fall weather may have caused colder games, but Damascus fans still brought their energy, attending even the away games. With two losses and two wins, fans hope for another big win to finish the month on Oct. 30, when they face the Magruder High School Colonels.
Oct. 3 was a positive start to the month. The Hornets took on the Rockville High School Rams, with a final score of 45-6. From the beginning, the Hornets showed power, scoring 17 points on the Rams in the first quarter alone. Even when the Rams’ offense tried to make a comeback in the second quarter, Damascus players didn’t allow them to score more than 6 points. The Hornets didn’t just defend during the second quarter; they also had a turn with the ball, scoring 14 points. Coming back from halftime, Damascus kept their adrenaline up, gaining 14 more points before the end of the game. Ending with an overall score of 45-6, players and fans were left with hope for the rest of the season.
The Damascus High School Hornets put on a show on Oct. 17, 2025, during their 72-6 win against the Einstein High School Titans. This non-conference game win bumped the Hornets up to a 5-3 overall record. After their rough loss to Westminster High School, resulting in a 7-28 loss, the team spent the week preparing for a win. The Titans, on the other hand, took this loss as their second in a row, lowering their overall record to 2-5. The Hornets brought on their best offensive and defensive skills, not allowing the Titans to score more than once.
As for their game against the Sherwood High School Warriors on Oct. 23, it was another close game for the Hornets. Starting strong, Damascus High School’s very own, #4, Leo Stalczynski, scored a touchdown against the Warriors. Although Damascus only had one touchdown, their defensive players put in work to lower Sherwood to only scoring 28 points by the end of the game.
Now, with an overall record of 5-3, the Hornets are preparing for their last October game against the Magruder Colonels. The Colonels had a previous loss against the Gaithersburg High School Trojans, with a final score of 23-6.
