We have officially entered the spooky season where the tone of movies go from cheerful to scary. A lot of new movies have, and will, come out in October and November. This is the perfect time to sit down on a comfy coach, popping popcorn and clicking to watch the newest movie that has been released to streaming platforms such as Disney + and HBO Max.
The latest movies that have been released are very on point for this time of the year. One rated R movie that was released on Sept. 5 of this year; which is called “The Conjuring the Last Rites.” You can watch it in theaters, Apple TV, Fandango At Home and Google Play Movies. The movie is about two paranormal investigators who travel to the state of Pennsylvania to exercise a demon in an old home. A student at Damascus, Jessica Lemus, has seen all of “The Conjuring” movies and predicts that the movie “is going to be especially scary” due to the fact that the run time is “two hours long“ and holds the reason on “why the exorcists quit their jobs.”
Another brand new movie that came out on Oct. 10. was called “Tron: Ares.” “Tron: Ares” is a part of the Tron franchise that follows two other movies that came out in the 1980’s and the early 2000’s. In “Tron: Ares,” people are encountered in the world of AI, and Ares has to leave the digital world in order to go on a mission in the real world. You can only watch it in theaters.
Also, on Oct. 10, you can view Colin Hanks’ new film on Amazon Prime. This film dives into the life of the iconic 80’s-90’s actor named John Candy. Candy sadly passed away in 1994 and starred in movies such as “ Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,” “ Home Alone,” “Space Balls,” “Uncle Buck” and many more films. The movie is called “I Like Me” and features a multitude of famous actors who worked closely with him.
The sequel to the horror movie “Black Phone,” called “Black Phone 2,” just hit theatres starring Mason Thames and Ethan Hawke. The movie is about a girl who picks up a horrible phone call and later on envisions her brother at his winter camp being in danger by an undead killer. The movie came out in theaters on Oct. 17.
The iconic movie/musical “Wicked” is coming out with its sequel called “Wicked: For Good,” on Nov. 21 where it is a reenactment of act two of the musical. In this movie, viewers will find out why people become the iconic characters in the Wizard of Oz. One student at Damascus, Jack Farmer, who really loves musicals, loves Arianna Grande and Cythia Erivo who are “killing it.”

Farmer suspects that “Judging by the trailers it’s going to be a great second half…[and] how [the movie] started last year I am excited to see how their movie interpretation finishes the story.” Many “Wicked” fans are very excited for “No Good Deed” and “The March of the Witch Hunters.”
One other movie that will be coming to theaters on Nov. 26. is called “Zootopia 2.” The movie follows Nick Wilde voiced by Jason Bateman and Judy Hopps voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin as they go on many police themed adventures.
