Fighting All Season And Bringing Home The Trophy

The Damascus Boys Varsity Lacrosse team won the regional championship last night against the Springbrook Blue Devils with a final score of 20-10.

We won regionals! Finishing with a 9-8 final record. In the first quarter, we started off slow being down 5-3. This team was good and weren’t going to go out without a hard fight. It was a closer game in the second quarter, only a 3-point game in Damascus’s favor. Going into the second half our coach tells us that the offense has to control the ball and slow it down on offensive possession. This was a team that could catch and throws. “They knew what they were doing.” “This game wouldn’t be like our other playoff games before.” Damascus box lacrosse had won both the quarter-finals and semi-final games by a landslide. Beating Watkinsmill 19-1 in the quarter-final and Magruder 16-4 in the semi-final.

At the end of the third quarter, one of the Springbrook plays got a conduct foul after getting in one of the Damascus player’s faces and trying to push them. This gave Damascus a big man-up advantage going into the last quarter. Damascus scored 2 goals during that penalty and was up by a lot. Goal after goal Damascus built their lead. Until the clock ran out and Damascus has done it. Beating all the teams and becoming regional champions. Damascus was handed the plaque and held up high. The Damascus girls lacrosse team had also won their regional championship at the same time against Rockville High School. Both teams had won a regional championship and brought two plaques to the Hive.
