Throughout Maryland, there have been sightings and stories of unknown creatures roaming the state. Ghastly and ghoulish, surprisingly almost forgotten to time and change. However, The Buzz is here to guide you forth and reintroduce these mysterious creatures back into fresh minds.
Chessie: A Maryland sea creature often seen around Chesapeake bay, Md. One of the first documented sighting “by Francis Klarman and Edward J. Ward” – 1943
Well clearly not all cryptic creatures are evil for this is Chessie, they lurk in the bay with a long body and bright reptilian scales. They seem more dragon-like in appearance, perhaps you would catch a glimpse of them breaching the water’s surface to clap their fins together.
Goatman: Part man, part goat? Which way is worse? FIrst sightings around Md. 1950 – 1960
Half-goat, half-man. Another creature that lurks more often in national parks or near people. They say it purposely manipulates its victims slowly draining their sanity before revealing itself to feast, on it’s prey.
Wendigo: A ferocious cannibalistic creature. This cryptid is known to be so old and in so many cultures that it would be impossible to find a first sightings date.
Some say they’re evil spirits, others claim that they’re people who have eaten their own. One thing for sure, you don’t ever want to meet this gnarly beast, sightings of these creatures happen in the woodland so always watch your back nearby. Never go onto land that isn’t yours for you don’t know what deep, quiet evils lie for it’s a creature known before anyone even knew the Americans ever existed.
The Snallygaster: A hybrid of a bird and a reptile. First sightings around Md. – 1909
A horrible dragon-like creature, with new terrible features every time one sees it. Almost always something is different, like razor sharp teeth or long tendrils. Known for taking livestock or even small children. They have a fierce rivalry with the Dwego, their battles dating back to ages ago.
Dwego: A wolf-like beast. First sightings around Md.- 1944
To dive deeper into the woods you should beware, that’s where this wolfman lurks. It stands tall on its hind legs never dropping down, using their forelimbs as arms. The Dwego is known for its insatiable hunger that can never be quenched. Never speak of the Snallygaster near him or he may just make you his next snack with its unholy screech.
