With the summer-fall season coming to an end, Jimmie Cone closes up shop for the year. This tradition has been in Damascus since 1962, under the Harris, Leiter and most recently- the Hamilton family.
Chelsea Hamilton is the current owner of Jimmie Cone. She worked with her father for seven years and has been involved with the family business ever since she was four. Taking up the business was never part of a written plan but a sincere decision to carry on the legacy, for both her family and the Damascus community.
Owning a business naturally made Chelsea look at other establishments differently. Between the ice cream sold and the memories created at the beloved hot-spot, Chelsea’s focus is less on the actual business and more on the familial aspect of Jimmie Cone, ensuring the safety, good experience and happiness of the students working there as well as the families and friends of Damascus, too; “It’s important to notice the people behind the scenes and share the positivity with them.” Chelsea responded, regarding her views on how businesses are conducted, especially with how many other local businesses reside in Damascus; on a similar matter, Chelsea also mentioned, “In a world that’s always changing, there’s always a moment to provide the unchanging, not in the way it doesn’t change, but that it provides comfort.”

Jimmie Cone prioritizes focus on the comfort and “unchanging” nature of the business for the Damascus and Mt Airy communities.
If you’re interested in being a part of the wonderful friends and visitors of Jimmie Cone, they will reopen in March 2026.
