The kick off to the holiday season is officially creeping up on us: Thanksgiving is now only six days away and everyone is ready to feast on different cultural foods and spend time giving thanks. The Buzz staff members have provided their favorite Thanksgiving recipes to give inspiration for future Thanksgivings and other fun-filled holidays.

Mrs. Patrick
Patrick absolutely loves stuffing. She believes that “Stuffing with gravy and cranberry sauce is delicious. [She] look[s] forward to it every Thanksgiving!”
Jaiden Campain
Campain looks forward to having sweet potatoes. She likes sweet potatoes because her mother makes it every Thanksgiving.
Sarah Destefano
Baked Ziti is Destefano’s preferred Thanksgiving dish. Destefano explains how “It’s a recipe that [her] family makes every holiday,” since she tends to be a little picky and she loves pasta. She helps her mom make it every year and they bring it to every holiday get-together.
Mia Dove
Dove’s ideal thanksgiving side dish is Green Bean and Cornflake Casserole. Dove explains how “It sounds gross but I promise it is absolutely delicious. It is extremely nostalgic to me as my grandmother would always make it and bring it to our Thanksgiving meal. Ever since she passed in 2019, my dad has assumed responsibility for creating this dish so we can still enjoy it.”
Jack Farmer
Jack Farmer’s “mom makes a really good chocolate peanut butter pie, but [he] loves[s] regular pumpkin pie as well.” Farmer “just really likes the scent and fall-like taste of pumpkin pie, and [his] mom’s great at making desserts so anything she makes is bound to be good.”
Collin Hy
Hy loves the classic main dish Turkey. He likes it because his sister makes it.
Aaron Koch
Koch’s favorite thanksgiving recipe is Pineapple Surprise. “It’s a dish [his] grandma has been making for over 40 years.”
Mara Kuroda
Mara Kuroda looks forward to having sweet potato casserole. Kuroda makes it every year for her family and it “tastes really good with pecans and brown sugar.”
Sarah Nachbar
Apple Pie is Nachbar’s treasured thanksgiving dessert. Her brother, and a few of her friends “make really great apple pies.”
Ethan Nguyen
Ethan Nguyen likes mac and cheese or mashed potatoes as a side dish. Nguyen says that “they are both an easy side dish to make, and anytime you go over to a thanksgiving dinner there is always one or the other. Both are one of the best side dishes.”
Sophia Simoni
Sophia Simoni loves Cinnamon Sugar cookies. In her country, Brazil, “[they] don’t celebrate Thanksgiving because it’s not a holiday there,” but when she moved to the U.S., they started celebrating it because it’s a big thing here. They don’t make the typical Thanksgiving dishes that Americans do (like turkey, which is for Christmas in Brazil), but she started baking a few years ago. Every Thanksgiving, now she makes cinnamon sugar cookies for her friends/family because she thinks it “fits into the whole Thanksgiving stuff,” and they all like it.
Isabelle Strouble
Mac and Cheese is Isabelle Strouble’s favorite dish during Thanksgiving. Since she doesn’t eat meat she thinks it’s really good and she always looks forward to it.
These are only a few of the amazing Thanksgiving recipes and dishes being served on this amazing holiday. We hope these recipes give a lot of ideas to all DHS staff and students this holiday season!
