On Thursday, Oct. 16, in the Damascus High School auditorium, the staff announced a Swarm Spotlight schedule so everyone could see The Hispanic Heritage Assembly, a time of celebration of Latin American culture, produced by our Adelante Club.
The process is started through weekly meetings, planning out what will be included for a year’s production, the second-longest part of the project, to the rehearsals and practicing performances.
Two students involved in the assembly, Eliana Erazo and Fabiana Corredor, shared that their favorite part of the assembly was the final performances with teammates and the Quinceañera presentation.
The most exciting and recognizable part of the assembly for most is how the many cultures are represented through intricate dances, rhythms, and beautiful attire.
Yet, even when the curtain is down and the music’s stopped, the part that should be the most recognizable is the amount of time and thought that goes into the production of the assembly, the 40+ students who performed, helped with the technology, as well as the staff, who spent hours assisting and supporting the students.
With every year, new hopes and opportunities arise for students who are, and want to be, involved in the production — there are hopes for the assemblies to be more interactive, and show off more dances!
