The holiday season is officially here and with that comes a lot of exciting events from frosting messy sugar cookies to clinging onto the wall while ice skating. One of the most fun-filled traditions a lot of people participate in is curling up by the fire with a comfortable blanket, sipping hot chocolate with little marshmallows sticking out of the top, and watching their favorite holiday films. The Buzz staff has come together to share their favorite holiday films and why they mean so much to them.
Ms. Patrick
Ms. Patrick absolutely loves watching “Home Alone” during the holiday season. Patrick “love[s] the 90s nostalgia of it all.” She says the film also features some “amazing one-liners” such as, “Buzz, your girlfriend. Woof.”
Jaiden Campain
Campain’s favorite holiday film is a little different from the classic sitting by the fire with hot chocolate type of movie. Campain watches “Venom” during the holiday season because the “villain [is] the main character.”
Sarah Destefano
Sarah Destefano enjoys watching the holiday classic movie “Elf.” Destefano reasons “it’s a lighthearted film that always makes [her] laugh with an underlying theme of self acceptance.”
Mia Dove
Mia Dove, being a huge Marvel fan, is obsessed with “Iron Man 3” during the holiday season. Dove explains how “[she is] a huge Marvel nerd, and while this movie might not center around the holidays, it takes place during Christmas.” She loves Tony Stark as a whole and the chemistry he has with the boy (Harvey) that he meets in the town he is stranded in. This is also one of the first Marvel movies that correctly portrays mental health.
Jack Farmer
Jack Farmer’s favorite holiday movie is “The Polar Express” because he “believe[s] it was really innovative at the time and it’s a classic.”
Collin Hy
Collin Hy also loves watching “The Polar Express” because it has a big train involved with the film.
Aaron Koch
Koch loves watching the most debatable Christmas movie of all time, “Die Hard.” Koch believes that the movie is “very quotable, [has a] great cast, fantastic plot, and it’s memorable.” Yippee ki-yay!
Mara Kuroda
Kuroda’s favorite holiday film is “Violent Night” that stars David Harbour. Kuroda “love[s] that the movie brings out a new take on the character Santa Claus.” She also watches a lot of horror movies that are centered around gore so this movie checks off most of her movie watching boxes. She really enjoys watching Santa kill people in creative Christmas ways such as slitting someone’s throat with a sharp candy cane! She’s “obsessed” with the film, and she’s watched it twice already this holiday season!
Sarah Nachbar
Nachbar loves the animated classic “Klaus.” Nachbar “love[s] the animation style. The theme of the movie, and especially the ending! It’s warm, wholesome, and definitely a watch to remember.”
Ethan Nguyen
Nguyen watches “Home Alone” during the month of December because of how much of a classic it is.
Sophia Simoni
Simoni watches “The Polar Express” that stars Tom Hanks in the film. Simoni “likes [the] polar express because [she] remember[s] it being the first holiday movie [she has] ever watched and since then [her] and [her] mom watch it every Christmas Eve.
Isabelle Strouble
Strouble watches the iconic movie “The Grinch” and she “like[s] the animated one because the Grinch and his dog are so cute and [she] loved watching it when [she] was younger.
