What a storm! Damascus received eight inches of snow, not including the multiple inches of ice added on top. With all these weather delays and days of school off, sports schedules have shifted around. Here’s what you need to know about the Boys Basketball games on both levels.
Although Damascus wasn’t scheduled to play Tuesday, Jan. 27, other teams in the county were. This was the first day off, when no one knew how bad things were going to be. All of the games were originally moved to Thursday, Jan. 29, but we ended up having that day of school off as well. The games, both JV and Varsity, have been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the original location and original times. Check individual team websites for more information.
Now we get to what has impacted the Hornets. Damascus was supposed to host Poolesville Friday, Jan. 30, both JV and Varsity teams. All Varsity games that were supposed to take place on Friday, Jan. 30 have been moved to Thursday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.. Those JV games have been canceled and instead JV will play the same opponent as Varsity on Friday, Feb. 6. This makes it a double header with JV at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:15. This means that the JV team at Damascus will have their final away game at Watkins Mill at 5:30 and Varsity will play after them at 7:15.
Both teams won this game, with JV winning 65-44 and Varsity winning 77-35.
Our final snow day was Monday, Feb. 2. Damascus was supposed to play Clarksburg away at both levels. The Varsity games have been moved to Monday, Feb. 23 and the JV games have not been rescheduled at this time.
