
The girls are currently 2-2 and the boys are 0-4 . Their up-coming meets are going to be against Rockville on Jan. 17 at Gaithersburg Aquatic Center, versus Magruder on Jan. 24 at the Olney Swim Center and on Jan. 31 the team will participate in the Division II Swimming and Diving Championship. Some swimmers and divers such as Ethan Capati, Mikaila Erazo, Sreekar Gogineni, Brandon Salamanca, and Toni Iorio are feeling confident and ready for the upcoming meets. When asked about the up-coming meets, Brandon Salamanca, a current junior and rising senior, says, “I feel like we can do pretty well in the upcoming meets. We’ve already done pretty good and I think that will continue.”
In 2024, Drew Beabout swam a time of 21.81 in the 50 yard Freestyle and Antonio Iorio broke the school diving of 179.85 points for the boys. For the girls, the latest is Viona Sunjaya, a junior and rising senior, who swam a time of 1:04.09 in the 100 yard Breaststroke. Hannah Douglas, a high school graduate who now goes to WVU, Claire Beabout, a junior and upcoming senior, Samantha Hennelly, a senior, committed to Monmouth University and Taya Ivanovskaya, all swam a 1:41.89 in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay. Swimmers like Mikaila Erazo and Ethan Capati, both juniors and rising seniors, say that they felt proud of their school and how proud they are for them. “I feel good about the school records and I am really proud for the people who made them,” Mikaila Erazo noted. “I feel great about the records, it makes our school seem good and competitive, and I’m proud to have a school with many records,” Ethan Capati shared.
After the next two meets, the swim and dive team will head to the Division II Championship on Jan. 31 at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center. Next, the Metro Championships will be held from Feb. 4 to 7 at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center and Regional Championships are slated for Feb. 13-14 at the Fairland Aquatic Center. Finally, the Maryland 3A-2A-1A State Championships will be on Feb. 20-21 at the University of Maryland Eppley Rec. Center.
